I've already had a a bad impression of the v4 pioneer due to watching the reviews on this cube that had come out already, but still wanted to give this cube a try hoping it would be just as good, or better than the v4. Out of the box, the cube felt stiff as a brick, and felt way too tight, even though the default settings were at 3/3. Corner cutting was OKAY at best although reverse corner cutting was around the same, and there is NO auto alignment to help with your turning, just like Cameron said in his video. I tried loosing the tensions a bit, specifically the inner circle at 2, and the outer edge at 1, which is pretty loose. After doing this, the cube still felt stiff and tight, and the corner cutting did not get better, although the cube did get faster. Turning the cube by itself was fine, however the problems came when doing actual solves, as mentioned above. Even after lubing the cube and breaking it in, the cube did not get better. Corner cutting still bad, and still felt too stiff/tight. I would say the reviews on this cube are pretty accurate as the best way to describe this cube, is "weird". I usually average around 9-10's with the V3, but with this V4, I'm around 10-14. I did like the implementation of the magnets so instead of having to change the magnet strength 24 times, you would only need to change it 8 times. However, I do feel it was unnecessary because you only need to experiment with the magnet settings when you first get the cube, and once you've found your settings, then you wouldn't need to mess with it anymore. I also liked the design of the box, and the accessories including the cube storage box, as it felt nice and sturdy. And the tensioning system is still the same, which is nice since it's hand adjustable. It feels like X-man tried to hard to make the v4 different, when they could've just made small tweaks to the v3 to make it a better version of it. The v3 was already a very good cube, so they didn't really need to change it all that much, like how they did in the v4. As I've said, the videos online on this cube are pretty accurate, and I would just spend my money on the v3 and NOT on the v4 (pioneer edition).
